Learning Cycle and Link Challenge

Learning how to learn

  • Dependence
  • Interdependence
  • Independence

(Zen Ex Machina, cited in zenexmachina.wordpress.com, 2013)

My understanding for this learning stage cycle is that it is similar to learn how to ride a bike. In the beginning, we do not know how to ride the bike at all, so we have to seek the help from friends or families, it is first stage which called Unconscious Incompetence. At the stage two, Conscious Incompetence. It is incontestable for us to know how to ride the bike but still bothers us attributed to control it. Then, the situation come to stage three which is Conscious Competence that we kind get the keys of riding a bike and just need extra practice. Finally, we know how to ride the bike and it becomes second nature as we would nerve forget how to ride it once we have learned it, also known as Unconscious competence. (Byrne, 216)

Linking Challenge

Using the image on the page generate links to
  • A musician
  • A film or film maker
  • Animation

Feathers

The feathers just made me think of an animated film maker, Hayao Miyazaki who is a Japanese animator and director. He has made a numbers of high-ranking films and most of them involved some flying characters.

(Attila Kondorosi, cite in akritizator.blog.hu, 2015)

For instance, his last long animated film "The Wind Rises" (2013). The story is based on a boy who dreamed to become a pilot and finally he designed Japanese fighter planes during the World War II. He met a young girl, Naoko who travel with her maid. They fall in love at first sight and has spent time to overcome variety of difficulties. The similarities between "The Wind Rises" not only the physical airplanes  but also the purity of the love between Jiro and Naoko. They love and support each other no matter what happens. Additionally, feathers frequently indicated to romantic relationship and purity weddings.v

Another film " My Neighbour Totoro" (2013) has related to the feather as there are few forest spirits who enable to fly in the woodland, although the Totoro looked very chubby and slightly clumsy, it has surperisedly  flexible movement. By the way, Totora has lost of furs also made me link to feathers.

Those films have given me the similar feelings as feathers: flying, purity and fantasy wold. The feathers slowly dropped from sky and spread around the wold just like popularities of his film and influent all of us.

Glitters

Talk about glitters, people usually think of tiny, countless and shinily things. It made me link to a well-known British musician in 70s called Gary Glitter. His real name is Paul Francis Gadd and he is an former flam rock singer and musician who achieved great popular success in the Britain.

The reasons to link this person to glitters not only by his stage name, but also his sparkly costumes. As a successful pop-star, he wore a lot of shiny, sparkly jacket (which might looks weird now) in order to be the focus of the stage, to gather audiences's eye-sight. His tops and gloves often embedded with numbers of diamonds, metal sheets and sparkly glitters. The costume looked very funny but emphasised his position especially when the stage lights focused on him, it seemed that he was a christmas tree.

(Liz Jones, cite in Mail oline, 2010)
On other hand, people usually use glitter for some celebration situation like festival. The song and performance of the musician made me felt happy, laughing and festival feeling. It seemed that he has a magic power to spread the rock music , change audiences' mood and affect them.
The sparkle things on Gray Glitter are not only on the physical things such as name, costume, but also his influence that he passed the rock styling to every audiences, people feel exciting, screaming and wagging body.

Posts

(Post it Love, 2009)

The posts reminds me of a short film called " Post-it Love"(2009). It is a romance film that depicted the romance between two office employees, they were too shy to approach each other, therefore they used posts to express their mind.

Clearly, the posts were the main props that they used in the film and it was the key links for two shy people to develop their relationship.
