Final video compositing and Rendering

Adding soundtrack and background music

On the last day, my main job is to download the appropriate soundtrack and background music. I find some fast melody soundtrack to incorporate the time laps footage because it make people pass time quickly and enhance the atmosphere.  

Get ride of background noise 

One thing that bothers me was the background noise. I tried different methods that learned from online tutorial, but it still did not help much. I used Premiere effect: Denoiser, Lowpass to reduce the noise, it helps a lot, but did not remove the noise completely.  Thus, I tried Adobe Audion, a audio program that I had nerve used before. The noise still can not be removed completely. I decided to give up because I tend to move to After Effect.

The image below is my final painting, I eventually finish all the clothes embroidery and details.   

On the background, I did not create anything for it because I prefer to spent the rest of time on video editing. Therefore, I reused the Waterlily pattern that I made for cloth embroidery, applied colour overlay and filter effect to make it slightly different in order to be a proper background. 

Video Editing 

On the video editing, I've finished all the video footage and putted them in sequences as well, just need slightly adjust and adding couple explanation. Overall, I kind satisfy with my time management because everything's under the control. Tomorrow, I will work on the soundtracks and background music and make sure everything will be done by this Friday. 

Video Compositing

Today, I started to composite all the recording video clips together by using Premiere.

Then, I've realized that I need some voice over and interview scene to explain the ideas and the making of process. Therefore, I've borrowed tripod and camera again to film on my own.

I was writing the notes for the interview scene. 

In the afternoon, I kept working on the character painting because I still have few part to finish off. 

Art Museum Research

I've been to The Manchester Art Gallery to get some inspirations. 

For some reasons, the lantern here looks very touchable to me. I like the colours and  the soft light in the darkness. I think I can use it to the background. 

 The pattern of the bowel is very interesting.

Recording Process

Continued on the painting again. I've almost finished the top body in these few weeks, and I will speed up in order to complete the lower body.

Tripod 

Meanwhile, I've also booked video camera and tripod to record myself doing painting. It would be better to use proper video camera to record the process; the quality of the phone is poor. 

This is the video of me painting the characters. It's a good example of making of and I will shoot the clips in different angles to express the viewers. 

Painting

I've got another sleeve done today. The pattern of the sleeve is duplicated from the other sleeves because it matches and save lot time for me. 

Additionally, I also shading the sleeves, so the crease can be seen clearly and it adds 3D feeling too. 

Digital Painting process 2

I’ve add the texture on the layer of embroidery to make it look more realistic. Furthermore, I discovered a new function about transform, which you can choose free transform to change the angle of the images, it’s a lot suitable here as the embroidery needs to match the crease and bending of the clothes. Therefore, when I past the images on the clothes, it wouldn’t have look like pale sticker.

Idea of Mini Project ''Making Of''

From here, I am going to plan the constructive of the making of video. I am going to do some research about how other artist has recorded their work process and see if there any interesting elements that I can 'borrow'.

Helvetica (2007)

I like the music here, it has a fast melody and gives audiences a tone of live under the modern city. No voice over, no script and not process of making of, but it made us understand the content of the video which is amazing. I think I will use it as part of my 'making of' video. Last but not least, I really like the music here and I might 'borrow' it on my work. 

Art & Copy (2009)

The reason I put this video here is that it seemed more like documentary sort of video types. The scenes keep changes between designer and work footage. 

In the afternoon, I've made the pattern of the clothes as well. 

Painting Process

I have finished half of the painting. As you see here, I first completed the face with expression,  shadows and highlights. I spent eighty percents of time on the eyes and skin, attempted to make it as realistic and possible. 

Compare to the reference photo, the face here is too sharp because I tended to depict a elegant woman in my mind, I wished to create a painting with my own style instead of copying the photo. Therefore, I will change few elements but keep the primitive.  

For the body and clothes, I've only roughly painted the colours and shadows to show the contracture. In the next few weeks, I will focus on the patterns and embroidered on the dress. 

The image below is a screenshot of clothes embroidered that involved some Chinese element on it. I create a new file to paint it because I want to make it as details as possible.
